Charleston has no shortage of charm—from cobblestone streets to waterfront sunsets—but what really makes this city special are the spots that locals return to again and again. Whether you’re here for a weekend, new to the city, or just looking to switch up your routine, here are my go-to picks for coffee, dinner, running, and nightlife in the Holy City.
☕ Best Coffee Shops in Charleston
Dawn Patrol Coffeehouse – Best vibes hands down. The OG Burrito is a must have. There is tons of space to WFH and you will find yourself surrounded by the coolest creatives.
Baba’s on Meeting – Best food + drink combo. The workers are the friendliest people you will meet in Charleston. Check out their Cannon St location + Wentworth location coming soon.
Mercantile & Mash – The best WFH setup. This one is my go-to for a productive coffee-fueled workday. They always have a changing menu too!
Island Provisions – Best matcha. Island Provisions is where I go when I need something different.
🍽 Best Dinner Spots
Taco Boy (Downtown) – This one is perfect for a marg, debrief and your best friends.
Southbound – This spot is INSANE. I take all of my family and friends that visit here. Let the waiter pick your order + you will not be disappointed.
Delaney Oyster House – The caesar salad with shrimp + a glass of wine is to die for.
Chez Nous – This menu that changes daily, truly unbeatable.
Crosby's Food Trucks – Family owned, ideal sunset views + local food.
🏃 Best Running Routes
Pitt Street Bridge – Easy 3 miles, with unbeatable marsh views.
Ravenel Bridge – Best views of the city and harbor (plus a solid workout with that incline).
Hampton Park – This spot makes you feel far outside the city.
Sullivan’s Island to Isle of Palms – The ultimate long run: miles of uninterrupted beachfront, ocean breeze included.
🍹 Best Bars in Charleston
Salty Mike’s – Dogs, cheap drinks, sunset views + boats...what more could you ask for.
The Dispensary – No explanation needed
Chico Feo – Pro Tip: get the quesadilla
Baba’s on Cannon – The perfect pre-going out spot
By The Way - I crave the Hugo Spritz weekly - bonus points for the incredible staff
The Commodore – There really is no better way to end the night
From sunrises on the water to late nights downtown, these Portside Picks capture the best of Charleston.
